Suppose you hate your mother-in-law but absolutely love your husband. If he requests you to go to the MIL’s house for dinner, you should agree and go instead of picking a fight. That is because you know he loves you and surely made that request after making all considerations. If something happens while you are at the dinner, the husband would be then fully responsible for it.
In today’s story, Reddit user u/Aggravating_Salt4492 shared she had a terrible relationship with her in-laws, especially MIL. When her husband’s grandmother passed away, the MIL arranged a funeral car but for immediate family only. OP had to go to the funeral on the second or come on her own. She didn’t like this as she wanted to be there with her husband and wanted to say her prayers with him. She wanted either to go with her husband in the funeral car, have her husband go with her in the second car, or not attend the funeral at all.

1. Normally say my prayers and pay my condolences. But I think there is more to this one.
2. OP has a complex relationship with her in-laws.
3. When OP’s husband’s grandma passed away, MIL arranged a funeral car but only for a fixed amount of people. This meant OP would have to come separately.
4. The husband was going to reach church before OP and would be carrying his grandma’s coffin. OP asked him why he couldn’t go with her in the second car.
5. OP left the choice of going in whoever’s car to him.
6. Option one would make the husband not be at the front as the funeral car would reach there first.
7. Option 2 would result in OP’s husband being in the front and honoring his duties properly. Option 3 is out of the question.
OP is creating all these scenarios and I understand she wants to be there to pay her condolences to the grandmother, but there is no need for her to create a fuss in this situation. Her husband probably is in pain and wants to deal with the funeral in peace. OP should let him deal with the situation without causing any trouble. She can go to the grave later and say all the prayers she wants.
